Methodology

Overview

The prospects of Business Intelligence (BI) and Business Optimization (BO) began to flourish during the last five years. This transition is being catalyzed by the rapid development and standardization of scientific areas such as artificial intelligence, mathematical programming and operations research. In summary, the uttermost goal is to empower organizations to achieve not only automated business processes but rather optimized automated processes by better utilizing the human and information resources available.

But what are organizations able to do better and how can they do it?

Related research in computer science has identified three important properties of intelligent systems: sensing, planning and acting. Drawn from this experience, Winot designs systems that adhere, in our terms, to the SPACE model ( Sensing - Planning - Acting - Controlling - Evaluating ). Each part is essential in building complete solutions that promise to reform traditional approaches to business software, adding flexibility and intelligent autonomy.

Following our SPACE model we design systems that achieve:

• Distributed filesystem
• Automated customer services
• Forecasting models
• Data mining tools
• Scheduling

making use of modern tools such as:

• MogileFS - distributed file system (used by Google)
• Ajax - Web applications (used by Facebook)
• Mason - Perl based web site development and delivery engine (used by Amazon)
• Machine learning - Automated learning and algorithms (used by Goldman Saachs)
• Text analysis - Natural language processing (used by AT&T, banks)
